How To Share Your Data on MTN (4 Methods)

Method 1: Transfer Data with MTN Data Gifting.

MTN Data gifting is very much back & better, with the MTN Data gifting service, you can send data to your other gadgets, modems, & tablets. With this service, you’ll pay for the Data bundle on the user’s behalf.

Here is how to you can share data on the MTN network within four steps;

1. Dial *123*3#, then reply with 7.
2. After doing that, you will get a list of options to make. You can as well transfer data from your data balance, buy for a friend, or even request data from your friend.
3. Kindly choose the option you wish to use.
4. Enter your friend’s number (of course, an MTN number) then choose the amount of data you wish to share with the friend.

Please note that you can only share data twice a day; the maximum data you can share on a daily is 200MB.

Here is how MTN Data Share Works… Follow the steps given below.

Step 1: Activate an applicable data plan from the table shown below

Step 2: Dial *131*2*1# or text REG to 131; to register for the MTN Data Share, you’ll receive a unique security PIN

Step 3: You are expected to change the system generated PIN to a new PIN; they can easily remember by dialing *131*2*5# or by texting Change OLD PIN NEW PIN NEW PIN to 131. E.g., Change 0000 1234 to 13:1. Where 0000 is an old PIN & 1234 is your new PIN.

Step 4:

After changing the PIN, you’ll need to add beneficiaries to your MTN shared Data Bundle account through the USSD menu *131*2*3# or by sending the text “Add” to 131. You can add up to 5 recipients.

Step 5:

Immediately you have added beneficiaries (recipients number), you will be able to transfer & share your data bundle among the added beneficiaries by texting the keyword “Share” to 131 or dialing USSD code *131*2*4#

To use this service, you are expected to first migrate to the MTN SME Plus tariff plan by texting 460 to 131.

You can share data with any recipient by sending SMS below to 131 as shown in the table below (or dial *461# & follow the prompt):

Note that you can only share or transfer data in multiples of 250MB, 500MB, 1GB, 2GB or 5GB. Sharing or transfering data in multiples of any other data sizes is not currently allowed.
